Limmudfest
2 days of trekking in Derbyshire's Peak District, past Chatsworth House and through picture-perfect Bakewell & Edensor followed by 3 days of inspirational learning & lively discussion, all undertaken in congenial company as the British summer finally made its appearance – we had a fabulous time! The food was great & even living in a tent was (mostly!) a pleasurable experience.
We love Limmud & we really, really loved Limmudfest. No lows, all highs! Can't wait to do it again!

Edinburgh Festival
Our annual fix of the Edinburgh Festival!
There's something irresistible about the carnival atmosphere amidst the grey splendour of one of the world's most beautiful cities. It was the usual mix of international crowds alternately milling aimlessly (when your in a hurry to get to a show) & striding purposefully to the next entertainment (which may or may not be entertaining).
We enjoyed Festival Sunday on the Meadows, “Ae Fond Kiss” (a play from the Pie, a Pint & a Play series in Glasgow minus the the pie & the pint), Jerry Sadowitz, BBC Comedy Stand Up, The Human Computer, Jihad The Musical, Mob Logic (part of the Free Festival), a session at the Book Festival with Martin Goodman and a session at the Festival of Spiritually & Peace with Charles Handy. We were under-whelmed by the play “Damascus”, hated Janey Godley's Chat Show & loved the Soweto Gospel Choir. As always, a mixture of the highs, the lows & the average. This year we took more exception to the lows, due to substantially increased ticket prices! We're not sure how to become more discriminating since we do read reviews thoroughly but our estimation of how many stars a show merits seems to be at odds with some of the reviewers!
The best moments were actually the times spent catching up with friends & family at various food establishments around the city. A few days of sociable buzz in beautiful surroundings, sometimes even bathed in warm sunshine! - what more could we want?
